Moto Q Global vs. Blackjack II?

Hello. I am about to purchase a smart phone--- I have never had one before and I am not sure which phone is better. I have looked at countless reviews and comparisons, but people seem polarized and give mixed reviews. I would have gone for an iPhone but my friend is pushing it too hard and I am more of a windows guy. You know what I mean . I mainly want the phone for email and texting, and I really want a Microsoft word editor. Both phones have one, but, like I said, I have been reading mixed reviews. Anyone out there want to weigh in? Thanks!

I am making a similiar decision. I'm trying to decide between a Blackberry and the Q. However, almost everything I have read has said the Q is fantastic. The only phone that comes close (and in some opinions - beats) is the Tilt. From the speaker quality to the internet speed, most of what I have heard has been positive.

Worried I got the Q global

After deliberating for a while, I got the Q global. I was also considering Blackjack and Curve. I decided not to get Blackberry because I do not use much email and it is usually web gmail. In the end, I got the Q because I like the way it feels better, the keyboard is different, it comes with Opera which is very good.

The only thing that I am not sure about is that maybe I should have gotten the Verizon or Sprint Q or Palm 755p. My last phone was Treo 650(unlocked) and I still have all my contacts on it and still carry it around. The Q does NOT come with Outlook and you need Outlook to add your contacts to the phone. It is good that I do not mind so much entering them as I need them. I do not have many that I "contact" often LOL

I was shocked to find out that AT&T shuts down their customer service at 5 or 6 pm with short hours Saturday and no service on Sunday.

I have decided to go with the IPhone when the new version comes out - data plan is less expensive than for the Q and in both cases I have to do extra work to get it to synch with my calendar, contacts and email.

I do not understand how the data plan would be more on the Q, I think they charge $30 for unlimited no matter which one you have.
I think the hardest part is switching platforms. I do not remember all the tricks from my last windows phone even though it feels a little familiar. I have had a treo 65 for 2 years and now I have a little trouble finding what I want on my new Q. What really sucks is that I had to sign a new contract, get a new phone to get more minutes. AT&T does not let their legacy customers change their plans.

I went for the Motorola Q9h for my personal phone, and I love it the keyboard is awesome, just so easy to text. I did look at the Blackberry and the Nokia N95 but decided that I was going to be getting a Blackberry 8100 for work soon so that came of the list and the N95 well just wasn't sure on the Symbian OS never used it and also what apps were there?

I also did the same read all the reviews I could find and asked some of my contacts Chris Leakness, Mauricio Freitas (geekzone) and contacts at SPB all gave advised me what they thought and I took it on board.

I think I finally made my mind up once I was in the store and got to play with the phone again, as I had already seen it at a Comms Conference I went to (we got a sneak peak and play before it was released here in New Zealand), I found I still liked it.

I posted a pic of my today screen on this thread if you want to have a look

Smartphones... hmmmmm
