Windows Media Problem -- HELP

I'm new to the multimedia world, and I'm trying to use my Axim to download movie clips. I am using the Windows Media Player that came with the Axim. When I try to copy mpeg, avi to the Axim it gives me an error. However those same files play fine on my PC with Windows Media 7. I found a wmv clip, when I loaded to Axim I didn't get the video, only audio. What am I missing here?

It might be at too high a bit-rate for the Axim. You might try resampling the clip with W-media encoder for output to PPC.

I agree - that's the commonest problem. Compared with the Ax, most modern computer are so powerful that they can handle high-end movies. When transferred to the Ax, it just couldn't cope.

BTW, any idea what ind of bit-rate your video is encoded in?

This is greek to me. Will the Windows Media Player handle all the different formats? When I down load a wmv the Axim shows it as a wma and only has audio. I'm lost

The Axim has a limit to the amount of info it can process per second. A vid clip encoded for 640 x 480 has to be resampled by the player to fit a 240 x 320 screen. If the task of formatting each frame takes longer than the time available it starts dropping frames ... sometimes dropping every frame of the clip.
Typically you take a clip at 30 fps and decimate by 2 to get 15 fps product. The audio is usually set to mono to take load off the processor.
You'll find that your future efforts straddle the quality vs frame rate problem.
Video editing software will resample existing files, and it just takes practice learning whatever it is you have to work with.
Read around in the Multimedia threads.
