audio input override

I may be looking for something that doesn't exist, but hopefully somebody here has a suggestion. I want software that will allow me to have audio files playing until there is a input to the microphone jack, but when there is an audio signal to the microphone jack mute the music and pass that audio signal to my headphones. Along the lines of voice activated recording, except I want to hear the input, not record it. Any hints?

Unforunately I don't think such an application exists.

At first I wasn't quite sure what you would do with such a program but after thinking about it for a while it seems like you are describing a system similar to the intercoms available on Motorcycles like the Honda Goldwing.

Yeah, I was thinking that if I already have music and GPS directions playing over the Axim, seems a shame to buy a hardware mixer to get the radar detector audio into the same headphones, when there's an audio input on the Axim. Anybody know of a reason, this couldn't be done with the right software?
