Convert recorded shows to run on X50v

I record TV shows with my Hauppage 350PVR to mpeg files. Is there any freeware that has command line options that I can set up in a batch file to re-encode the mpeg files? I want to change the resolution, lower the bitrate, etc. to make them smaller so I can watch them on my X50v.

Also, if you know what command line options I should use to do this, that would be helpful.

Try VirtualDub and encode your videos into divx...There is a batch option in VirtualDub as long as you tell it not to start encoding when you name your output file name. Then use TCPMP to play back your divx videos on your Axim.

I follwed the guide form this site and I encoded Blade 3 at 640x480 resolution and it ended up about 470MB.

Is there something I need to change to get a smaller file?

I encoded Transporter a while back for my Toshiba E740. Resolution was 320x240 and the file is like 160MB.

Be nice if I could get the file size down.

640x480 I think takes four times as much memory as 320x240 for the same length video it isnt just double because it has to do with the area equation

The best way is to use Pocket DIVX encoder. It's avialable at http://divx.ppccool.com/ for free.

If you lower the bitrate, you can adjust the filesize. You can even set/calculate the file size by adding the video+audio bitrates and dividing by 8 (tell you the KB size per second), then doing some math.
