Movies on my Axim x50v
I've been trying for quite a while to put transfer a movie to my x50v, still unsuccessfully. I ripped the movie without any problem, purchased card reader and transferred the files over to cf memory card...no problem; installed tcpmp media player also onto cf card.....but I cant get it to recognize or create a new playlist. all I get is file not found error. I know the ripped movie is on the cf card. Can anyone tell me what Im missing here? Thanks

Once upon a time I borrowed a friends card reader and transferred files from my PC to the SD card via the card reader. The Axim wouldn't recognize it, nor would it show the freed space when I deleted files. It seemed that anything I tried with the card reader wasn't recognized on the Axim. My thought at the time is that everything had to be transferred via ActivSync. I haven't had any problems with anything if I use the explorer function in ActiveSync to transfer the files, but it is really really slow.
I am still searching the forums to see if anyone knows of a card reader that does work with the Axim as I am tired of the slow speed going through ActiveSync.

That doesn't sound like an issue with the card reader. It COULD be, but it sounds more like a problem with the FAT on the SD card.
You should be able to use any card reader. You should format your card and if the problem persists, replace it.

Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

I followed Bradish's tutorial to the letter; so I guess that would be divX right? I purchased a sandisk cardreader cuz the activesync process kept freezing up (after it ran forever). Thanks

I strongly suggest the free "light" version of FairUse for encoding video...it doesn't get any easier than that, and I'll vouch that the videos work.

I use Pocket DivX Encoder to convert. But usually I am just compressing AVI's of TV shows that I download. TCPMP works well to play them and I've never had any problems with either of my card readers. One of them is a Centrios CF reader and the other is a no name usb 2.0 9 in 1 reader I picked up for next to nothing down in California at Fry's.
I have formated all my cards in the PC first at either FAT or FAT 32. Not sure if NTFS will work but knowing that my Digi cams don't recognize NTFS, I've stuck with FAT and just recently formated a 2 GB CF to FAT 32. Try changing the format and see if makes a difference.

Format all cards on your PC. It takes seconds.
I have read of people having problems with flash cards, that they didn't format in their PC, not showing up or not reading the correct storage capacity.
