trouble transerring to sd
Hello Fella's,
Just recieved a dell axim x51v about a month ago and been lurking the boards.Lot's of good info here.
Here is my problem. I am having trouble transferring movies from my pc to my axim. One movie I used fairuse to convert from dvd.The other one I d'l off the internet and and is a public domain movie. What is happening is that when I copy the file from my pc and paste to the sd card, the file transfer window will go about 5 blocks and then start over again. I've been able to transfer other smaller video files with no problem.Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

Are you copying to the sd through a card reader or through the axim?

Yeah, use a card reader...MUCH faster and reliable for large files.

Another vote for 'Use a card reader'
a usb2 card reader will be at least 10 times faster and 50 times more reliable... and they don't cost much either :)

Seriously though, use a card reader. I finally broke down and bought one after having my Axim for over a year. Its so much better and well worth the money. TONS faster. I am actually fairly upset at myself for not having purchased it sooner. Movie files just take too long through the cradle.

Well, i'm half an idiot. I let it sit there for about 10 minutes and the file transferred. What I thought was weird though is that the progress bars indicating the file transfer never went more than 5 blocks before starting all over again. But I am happy now,I got's me some movies. Thanks for the replies.

I had the same problem this morning. The progress bar would fill 3 steps, then reset. I finally walked away and spent 10 minutes talking with the wife, and came back & it was done.
Cheers,
Bill
