XVID Problem !

Hi !

I have problems with watching some XVIDs on my Axim x50v with Windows Mobile 2003 and using tcmpm Player.

The message says "keine Unterstützung für quarter pixels" (im using the german version) which means something like "no support for quarter pixels".

The result is that the vids are "running" but you cant watch because the "pixels" are somewhat changing and flickering, some kind of "smearing".

Would be nice if someone could help ! Thanks in advance !

I recommend fairuse wizard for your future DVD ripping needs. Xvid files produced with it don't suffer from that problem.

TCPMP does not support qpel (quarterpel)so you will have to re-encode your xvid file in order to view it properly. I might add that TCPMP also does not support GMC (global motion compensation) so if that problem ever comes up, you'll know.

Ah, ok. Could you recommend a program to re-render the XVIDs ?

I've never used FairUse, but that seems to be everyone's favorite encoding program around here. The methods I know are a bit more advanced and require a multitude of programs. Go to www.doom9.net if you want to learn more advanced techniques. Otherwise, stick with FairUse. (PS: there are a couple of stickies in this sub-forum that will help guide you)

I'm with Enragin Angel - not used FairUse which seems to be the simplest and easiest according to the forum - but you miss a few features.

I use DVDx (really good if you know what your doing - does everything), PocketDivXEncoder (very simple and automated - good for reencoding from computer based rips to PocketPC) and DVD Decrypter (only rips - no encoding) depending on what I want to do.

www.doom9.net is an awesome place to get all the resouces.

Enragin Angel and Adrian Knack are correct. fairuse doesn't do conversions just rips.
