Help needed playing streaming audio using Windows Media Player 9.

I have an hp4155 IPAQ. It is running Windows Media Player 9. It is build 14053. When I click on an audio link on a website that is a .asx file, rather than launching Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer prompts me with the following:

Download 'stream.cgi' to the 'My Documents' folder in Main Memory?

I can choose Yes, Change, or Cancel.

The file name on the web site is stream.asx, not stream.cgi.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

Edit: I have determined a workaround for now. It appears that the problem is that Internet Explorer is changing the name of the file from stream.asx to stream.cgi. When the file is saved to storage, the cgi extension is not associated with Windows Media Player so the stream never plays.

The solution is to rename the file to stream.cgi. Unfortunately, the built in File Explorer does not let one change the file extension. I installed a program called Total Commander that is a file explorer that allows for the extension to be renamed. I renamed the file to stream.asx and when opened, it automatically opened Windows Media Player and played the stream.

ASX is just a container. There could be any combination of codecs used. Where's the link and I'll try to figure it out for you.

Update: Looking around on the web it seems this may have something to do with Java applets so what's happening is the file is trying to open a popup player and popup players have never been supported on Pocket PC's. I'd still like to look into the link though.
