Exclamation Real Player for Pocket Pc, my thoughts

I could sum it up in one word

Pocket Real Player "SUCKS"

Please dont make the mistake I did and waste a good half hour to hour trying out this peace of crap.

Cons

-Would not reconize 3.7 Activesync it said i needed to install "3.1 or higher"

-Hard to find the right version

-Dont be fooled when it says it will play Mp3's... You can not use file explorer to click and drag you must got through real player and save it a special way

-To save these mp3's or video files on your Axim You must SAVE IT TO YOUR INTERNAL MEMORY (NOPE NO CF or SD card supports)

-You have to download a plug-in to save these mp3's in addition to the real player for pocket pc.

-When you save these MP3's you have to set the quality to what Real Player tells you... You could have a 128 kbps but then the highest you can save it for is 96 kbps.

-Features just boring like Pocket Windows Media Player but WORSE

-Hard to find/open files (crappy exploer to find you files)

I don't like Real Player on PC. It's a memory hog and has useless crap included with it.

I vehemently hate Real and everything they stand for. I hated them even more the moment they released the "Real One" player.

They've always been deceitful with every single thing they try to do, and have just gotten worse.

So just on principle, I will NEVER use RP on my Axim, I shan't sully its cleanliness with the crap that is RP!

:D

I feel better now :)

What about streaming your local broadcast AM station? That *should* work, right?

Doesn't work, MLB blocks it and requires to you pay for it. You cannot listen to MLB games on the internet for free anymore.

MP3 must be loaded in My Documents folder - but SD and other cards supported

Just a word on the MP3 issue - the Windows media player works very well with MP3s - in fact I have a number saved on a Secure Digital card. The trick is that you need to have a folder called "My Documents" to be able to READ these files. In fact; I use the Axim to power the CAR STEREO using a cassette interface frm an old Sony CD player. Just plug it into the headphone jack and run the Axim straight through the stereo system. Rocks!

as far as MLB only on REAL is very true.... you must pay for baseball.

on the Windows Media Player.... MP3s work great for me and I have no "My Docs" folder on my CF or SD... and all works.

I have tried some of the music players and REAL was the worst... Windows Media works and has to be loaded anyway, so I will use it for now....

Ok Got to agree in this format. I tried out their "mobile selections" at Real One. None of these links work. They all point to a .com address???? Not the typical RM or RAM File. Their own site!! When a company like Real sells pop-ups and on their site, well the end could be near....

Although every once in a while it works...like the above link..
