Open TCMP player app. In the lower left corner you will see "file". Tap file and at the top you wil see "open file". Tap it then go to directory (SD or CF)where your movies are and tap the movie file you want to watch then OK. TCMP will go back to the default page and in the top left of the time bar you will see the name of your movie file. Hope this helps.

I've tried 5 different encoder programs (pocketdivx encoder, plato dvd to ppc converter, spdmobiledvd, Divx Pro 6, Nero Encode, etc.)

I've tried TCPMP and all of its versions (betaplayer, etc), PocketMVP, Sompy player, pockettv.

I just can't get the movies to play no matter what settings I use.

my favorite is that I used Sompy Movie encoder to encode a movie, then tried to use SOMPY movie player and it still didn't work.

I have a Dell Axim X5, I've been putting the movies on a 2gb sandisk SD card.

Hi
I hope I am on time thought its a bit past since you posted that Q. If you have'nt sold your PDA on Ebay , I am here to tell you what I found to be the stem of this problem.
First off I never smelt the file format as a problem, cos I took one of those 3GP files that did not play on card and put them in memory ( around 3mb file ) and it played well. Then I suspected that the file system must have had a problem but XP can read those same 3GP files , then the next logical suspect was the SD driver. Turns out there is 1 SD driver for PPC 2002 and I could get any better than I had got . FINALLY I thought how about voltage - that SD card slot does'nt see to have the same spark as the CF one. Good for me - My PDA toshiba e740 (uncaring as they are they ditched their customers and never offered an upgrade to PPC 2003 - WM 2003 ) had as CF slot - I took the CF adapter ( again lucky me for that ) and there it went they played well.
If your PDA does not have a CF card slot...thats bad. Sell it off then or try and os upgrade.
