Video Lan Client (VLC)

I was just wondering if anyone has tried Video Lan Client (VLC) from http://www.videolan.org/ and what their experience was.

I have used this software on my PC's for quite a while to watch anything from Divx to Quicktime to DVD movies. However, I have not had any luck at getting it to work on my PPC. Has anyone tried? If so, what were the results?

I tried to get it working on my x50V WM2003SE PPC to no avail. You are better off using TCPMP or WMP on your PPC. I like to use the streaming functionality of VLC and watch on my PPC using TCPMP. VLC for the PC is really good.

true

But onlt VLC can play streaming video like shoutcast video on our ppc. Ive gotten it to work a few times but its uguly and kinda slow. I hope they add support for the X50V and tune it to not crash so much and it could be a great streaming video playet.

TCMP = Stream from PC
VCL = Stream from Internet
WMP = Stream whatever wmv stuff the other 2 cant :)

Thanks for the info. I really like TCPMP, but I want to be able to stream from my PC to my PPC, which is why I was looking at VLC. I can mount a folder on my PC at home, but on the road it's a whole different story. I was hoping that VLC would take care of that, but I know it's going to take some playing around to get it to happen.

I use VLC on my PC to stream movies to my network, then I use TCPMP on my x50v and VLC on other PC's to catch and watch the stream. VLC for the PPC is too buggy to use. You may use WMP to catch the stream also, I believe.
