Anyone running a dedicated media server?

The question may not be phrased right. What I am trying to ask is if anyone has a single XP Media Center PC setup with several other TVs around the home connected via Media Center extenders connected to them? or anything similar like that?

I am probably in the market in the near future to replace the traditional tv/vcr/dvd/stereo setup with something more convergent/integrated...that can: play/record/tivo/dvd/mp3/surround sound etc you know what i mean...

So I am sort of in the researching phase...anyone care to share their experiences, insights etc?

TIA!

Oh yeah, Happy Turkey Day everyone!

I am working on the same thing right now, but i am using my tivo as the hub. I have the Toshiba tivo unit, and it has wifi capability and a dvd burner. my computer is an old wind 98 machine. (used just for network storage)

I rip all my dvd's to the pc in mpeg2 format (for the tivo), all my mp3's and all my digital photos.
then use my tivo unit to pick the item i want and watch it on my tv. as far as other tv's in the house, that is what i have yet to complete my research on. Let me know if you come across anything. (I was figuring i might just get a splitter for the output of the tive and wire it to the rest of the house using standard cable for now)
