If you want the familiar TCPMP look get the Win32 version of TCPMP as mentioned above. I have personally tested all mentioned programs and would recommend VLC because it is definately the best. It supports all video formats possible (more than most comercial products) and you can stream to others

. If you want a Media Center clone that can play audio, video, and TV plus much more check out
Media Portal It rocks and is open source! But, if you're only playing divX your best bet would be to install the DivX Play bundle (this way you can even watch DivX movies through Windows Media Player and any other Diretshow capable player.
FFDshow is also highly recommended for video encoded in codecs like DivX. It has many nice post processing features, but it's hard to figure out at first.
And finally, if you want something easy to work with that doesn't need to be installed (portable drive) Media Player Classic is your best bet.
You can find most players I mentioned at
Free-Codecs . Good luck, and I hope you find the best free player for your needs (I personally have all installed - Media Player Classic on a USB stick).
P.S. For your personal problem I would install the DivX play pack and play the files using Windows Media Player.
