Hmm Recorded TV to DVD to Pocket PC

I have recorded Tv shows on a DVD-RW. How can I transfer the files to my ppc? I tried FairUse and I get this prompt:

The video in this program chain is not all the same format.
Since AVI files can only contain video of a single format, you must select which section of video you want to convert.
The selections are listed int he order they appear in the program chain. Use the preview window to view each section.

There is no video for me to select and there is noting listed in the program chain. I can view the shows on my laptop. How can I view them on my ppc?

It all depends how the files are stored on the DVD-RW and in what format.

I have great success with Power DVD versin 4.0 from Cyberlink to view my DVD-RW disks made with a Phillips Recorder hooked up to my satellite dish.

Then to record these DVDs to *.avi to view on the Pocket PC I use Pocket DVD ver 3.4 by pqdvd.com, works really well for X51v and X50v at 640 x 480, change resolution to the best you can to still fit on your SD or CF card. Lots of threads on this site for recording to AVI format. Use search tool upper left of screen.

Good luck, write if you need more info.

In the very near future, you can use the new Dr. Divx. It's going to be Open Source, can handle just about any input format your computer can play, and output a Divx encoded avi.

According to the Divx forums, it should be released any day now. See http://www.drdivx.com/

Pocket DVD works much like a DVD viewer

When you open Pocket DVD recorder it plays your DVD much like any DVD viewer, to the right of the view screen are the recording controls, change size, format of video and audio, etc ,you can record any portion of the DVD to AVI format (saved on your hard drive) or record the entire DVD to AVI format.

Then its just a matter of copying the AVI file to your SD or CF disk and viewing it on the Pocket PC, I use TCPMP to watch the videos on my Axim. Works really well.

Later,
