Well, it's optimized for playing files in a hierarchical structure (like \style\artist\album) and has lots of options. Thus it became a bit of an effort to set it up to your personal needs. After that, it might be easier to use than many competitors, esp. since you can simply skip through all folders listed in your current favorites. But I admit, if you just want to play a file from the explorer, it's a bit bloated...

not to mention it's volume control sucks (it has no option to NOT use system volume)
|
Sure it has. With "swap volume and preamp sliders" the preamp is modified with the volume slider. I also added this to the wizard in the current 3.3RC16.
I'd recommend an update to this for everybody using a V3.3 beta lower than RC15. If you're using RC15, you won't notice any difference unless you're using streams (which also include PodCasts since some versions), where I fixed several bugs.

edit: omg how the hell do i add those themes

For MortPlayer? Just unzip them into the MortPlayer directory (but watch out the subdirectory with images remains a subdirectory). To select one, you can either use "Menu" - "Display" - "Switch Skin" or the settings. "Switch Skin" allows to use a Skin temporarily.
My favorite Skins are Steel (which is also installed with the current 3.3 RCs) and CoolBlue. Stein did a really great job there. But most of the other ones are quite nice, too. If only any of those other skins would include landscape and cover support, I'd use it as new default. I know "Night" isn't a beauty. I'm no designer. But it has nice contrasts and doesn't distract me by night, includes the buttons I need, and supports most of the possible features (landscape, cover, alarm screen, battery and phone signal).

Sure, it's a really nice program. If it does all you need, there's no need to use another...
btw: I set up a
Frappr map of users of my programs. It would be nice if you'd add yourself. (Just for curiosity...
