I have an Axim X30, 624MHz. It originally came with WMP9 which worked just fine. I could watch WMV and MPG files and listen to MP3s with it. I installed the update from Dell which included an upgrade from WMP9 to WMP10. Now it won't play any media files whatsoever. I'm completely baffled by it. I've been using TCPMP for listening to MP3s and watching MPG and AVI files. When it comes to watching WMV files though, it doesn't work which is why I want to get WMP10 working. Has anyone else had this problem? I've searched the forums and Google and haven't come up with any solutions.
Same problem. I just switched over to GSPlayer... works great for me so I am not gonna bother myself.
I hope problem is not related to TCPMP and file associasion setup. I can't play any mp3 files from my PC thru Wi-Fi on WMP.
You have to update your libraries before WMP10 for PPC will play .wma and .wmv files.
In TCPMP switch to the Raw FrameBuffer video driver to play .wmv files. If your device has that driver. It worked on my X50v.

Can you please tell me how to do this?

I'm willing to bet it doesn't work because you've accidentally trashed the upgraded WMP libraries by either failing to hard reset after the upgrade had finished and/or restoring a full system backup (as opposed to a PIM backup) made with the older ROM installed. I know the instructions included with the update say that you should do a full backup but this advice went bad for many Aximsite forum members (do a search for "a05 wmp backup" and have a good read through) leading to serious problems with WMP.
To fix it do a PIM backup, hard reset your Axim (hold the power button while you reset), restore your PIM backup and reinstall your programs from their original installers, after that it will work properly.

In WMP 10 go to Menu, Library. Then go to Menu, Update Libary
Wait, I'm sorry... What does this do? I thought this basically searched memory for media files and added the ones that WMP can play to the list. Is that true, or does this go on the net and try to get updated codecs? I might have misunderstood.

It searches for files on your device and media not codecs. How did codecs get into the conversation?

Eeeep, sorry, you said WMP couldn't play certain filetypes without doing the procedure, so that's what I thought you meant. I thought you could always open any file with the "Open File" option whether or not it was part of the library.
