How do I convert mpeg videos to the Windows format so the Pocketpc can utilize them?

You can get Windows media encoder off the microsoft site for free, and it will do that. Sorry Dont have the link handy.

Thanks! I looked there, but I must have missed it. I'll try again.

I haven't had any success with version 9 of the encoder. It goes through the process and plays fine on my desktop but as soon as I try it on my Axim it plays without sound.

Just tried version 7.1 of the encoder and it works just fine.

I don't know if there's a bug or compatability issue at hand but have seen others post that they've had problems with version 9.

Windows Media v.9 is not compatible with the current version of PPC WMP.

That's what I use, works fine for me =)

That's an explanation of just how to shrink you file down to where you want it to be without compromising the quality too much =)

i use this program too on my wmp 2003 but I have noticed that the quality isn't that good it skips alot of frams and the picture is teriable do I have a setting wrong or is that just the downside to windows encoder? is their a way to make it put more FPS in or is it just one setting for encoding to pocket pc format? I did thow download tcmpmp or what ever it is called and it works great put in avi It doesn't work is their a manual somewere that I could download for these programs.

I'm having the same issue with frames dropping. I use DVDCatlyst and it works fine but when I get it on the PPC it can sometimes play smooth for a few minutes and then drop frames like crazy. I've tried playing them on my Microdrive and my SD Card with the same result. I'm using TCPMP (Betaplayer).

Any ideas???

You don't need to convert. TCPMP (freeware) will play MPEG Movie Files.
