Problems with streaming audio
I have trouble getting streaming audio to work from some web sites (such as streaming versions of radio stations online). I have not problems using Shoutcast with GPlayer, or other sites that are specifically designed for a pocket format like http://www.pocketpcmedia.nl, but other sites don't work, even those that are supposed to work with Windows Media Player. Is there any trick to this, like a way to set up Windows Media Player? Maybe I'm just not doing it right. Clicking within PIE doesn't work. I have also tried opening the URL from within Windows Media Player and that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

I think it has to do with bandwidth. What data speed are you using when you're wireless?

I don't know exactly. This has happened with my work and home network. At home I have a cable modem with an 802.11g router. At work I'm at a university hospital with a T something line - 1 or 3, at least for the wired connection. I'm not sure what the wireless connection is. I would suspect it should be pretty fast, with the limiting factor being the Axim itself if anything.

"Don't work" and "doesn't work" are amongst the least helpful phrases to use when you're looking for a fix. I'm stumped as I don't understand what your problem actually is.

(But at least you didn't use "Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!" as the topic title)

I wonder if the sites are down or something. I've used pocketpcmedia in the past with hardly any problems since I switched to verizon wireless EV-DO network. Before that when I used t-mobile I would get a lot of buffering issues so it would play for awhile then stop and WMP would report buffering and back and forth. NOw I hardly ever see that message once a file starts streaming. Try this site. I listen to WBZ Radio every morning on my way to work by using a url from this site http://www.radio4pda.com/ .

For WMP there's not much you can do about buffering issues but even though I don't use it I know you can adjust the cache size or something to get GSPlayer to work better.

PocketPCMedia works well for me. The problem happens when I try other sites that aren't available on PPC Media directly from their websites.
