GSPlayer 2.24 is out (Lastupdate: January 4, 2006)

One of the greatest free apps. The best (in my opinion) music player for PPC. There is also a beta for WM2005.

I agree with you here - GSPlayer's the one for me too.

Especially with Zerker's nice MOD plugin and JonMisurda's great work on the VGA version... makes it the killer app.

What advantages does GSplayer have over other audio player like PocketPlyar or PocketMusic?

I am currently using TCPMP to play audio files over the network (works fine), but i use winamp on the desktop, so i'll give gsplayer a trial.

These are the features of GSPlayer I like the most, in no order.
  • Simple
  • Fast
  • Free
  • Nice EQ and effects - sounds AWESOME along with X50mix
  • Plugins for other formats
  • Does networking like TCPMP; inc. Shoutcast/Icecast
  • Simple skins to alter the look

TCPMP and GSPlayer are both quality programs, but GSPlayer is more audio-oriented where TCPMP is more video-oriented (at the moment anyway). I prefer the simplicity and speed of GSPlayer over the bigger, more demanding commercial music players.

Either way, give it a try and make sure you check out the EQ and effects as well as X50mix with headphones on. Sounds fantastic! If you like to use EQ, you'll find GSPlayer's is much better than TCPMP's - I hope TCPMP gets a better EQ with a future release.
