Question Free DVD to PPC software?????

Hi, new to this site and have only just purchased my first PPC (Axim 51v).

I have searched some of the threads, but can anyone advise me of an free, quick method of converting DVD's to a format compatable with the Axim.

Some of the threads show methods which were used 12 months ago - are these still the best free methods, surely there are better methods in 2006?

Many thanks for any help posted.

There are some threads on this already, I think one or more is even a sticky.

The free ones that work for me are DVD Decrypter and Auto Gordian Knot.
I bet you can do a search on either of those and find the thread they came from.

Yes, the same methods are still the best.

As slow as they are, they still make awesome video and that's worth it to me...

I use AutoGordianknot per one of the threads here. I crunched a DVD down to 430MB and I was amazed at the quality playing with Tcpmp. Yes it takes a while on my old 1.3GHZ desktop, but wow....

I use Nero Encode along with their beta Showtime Mobile or tcpmp with the aac codec. Amazing video quality

I spent the $17 for DVD Catalyst... for the price it can't be beat, it's pretty quick and works great (even for iPod video).

Showtime Mobile does'nt work all too well but Nero Recode does work extremely well, you might be able to get a tad bit better from Xvid or Divx but not at the Speed (Even in two Pass) that Recode offers, but it's $30 , so for Free I'd Recomment Downloading Xvid 1.1 and Avi.net, fairly fast and really simple.

Fair Use Wizard works great for converting DVDs to divx or xvid files in one fell swoop.
