Mortplayer: How to treat directories as playlists?

I dig Mortplayer, but I have one question on how to do something. I have all my music in one directory and all my podcasts in a second directory. I would like to have Mortplayer start in the music directory and populate the playlist (I change music alot). Then I can play music scroll around etc. But, I would like to be able to press a button to switch to the podcast directory and the playlist would be populated with the podcasts, so I can scroll and listen, etc. Then switch back to music with a button.

I have tried adding both directories to my Favorites, but both the music and podcasts get added to the playlist when the program starts. I am mainly using in my car so I want to use larger buttons instead of using the menu-open- other path/playlist, etc.

Thanks!

I think I can handle this one. First, into settings-->program start. In the 'start with' field, select 'empty playlist'. I would also recommend that you map a hardware button to the 'open dialogue'. For switching between playlists, you might want to map buttons to the 'next playlist' and 'previous playlist' buttons. (With only two playlists, you might could just map one and MortPlayer would wrap around to the other.. not sure).

Then, use the open button and select one of your two directories. All of the files should be added to your playlist and playback should begin. Pressing the 'next playlist' button should switch to the other playlist (other directory) and play back those files.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: One other thing... once you have a playlist full of songs, the current version of mortplayer won't let you scroll through the list and hit the play button to switch to the newly highlighted song. Mort, being the great guy that he is, recently released a beta that fixed that. Go here:

Thank you for the suggestions. I have it working now pretty close to the way I wanted. I downloaded the new beta and the new functionality is cool. I will suggest a new feature in the next release of this great program, to allow the option of a directory to be opened as a playlist when the program starts.

Thanks again.

If you use the "Changer Mode" or "recent playlist" as startup mode, the player restores the playlist used when last closed. This includes updates if it was a directory. However, if you removed or added tracks and "recent playlist" is chosen, MortPlayer decides it's no more a directory (which is reread at next startup) but a user playlist, which is restored as it was - no update... You can see this in many skins when the playlist name changes from the directory name to "Playlist".
