All of a sudden ALL my desktop media players stutter

I know this isn't directly related to mobile video, but that's the only thing I could have been messing with when this problem arose on my desktop, plus I couldn't easily find another helpful community to barge in on with my problem. My apologies. But-
As happy as I am that with advice I received here I was able to get my Axim to be the perfect video playback device, all of a sudden the PC I connect it to has become 90% incapable of playing any video format.

Here's why I'm stumped:
1. All my videos, including ones confirmed to be working, now stutter like they're jumping 10 frames forward and 5 frames back many times per second with garbage blocks all over the screen.
2. WMP10, Quicktime, WM Classic, and even most of my embedded video players have this problem now.
3. Almost every format of video I've tried, even mobile phone videos (3pg, 3g2), are having the same problems. Basic mpg works for some reason though. No Avi files of any format are working.

The sound stays synched somehow, but the videos are so jumpy and scrambled that it's near impossible to see.

I honestly have no Idea where to start; I googled it but whoever else has had thing problem could have called it "scrambled" or "garbled" or "fubar" or who knows and so I may not easily find an answer that way. I'd appreciate any help.

If no one is familiar with the problem, could someone possibly direct me to a forum that would be better suited to the question?

If you've installed any devices with drivers, this sometimes this does it. The drivers "overwrite" the needed ones.....
