ITunes Video and X51V

Was wondering today if i could download tv shows off iTunes that you can transfer usually to my Ipod but instead take the 200 mb file and transfer them to my sd card and watch them?

Does IPOD insert any codes or tags so the vids are only viewable on the ipod?

I'm loving my PDA just trying to figure out way to get quality video and shows. Itune vids are only $2 so I figure it's a good source if it works.

Anyone else know where to find recent shows and movies for download to play on our PPC's?

Unforntuantely iTunes downloads (both music and video) contain DRM that prevents them being played on anything but the computer they were downloaded to, or an iPod.

I don't think so, I think iPod just requires that the video be encoded in mpeg4.

I don't believe iTunes lets you burn videos or anything, so I don't think you'd be able to remove DRM that way.

I think the DRM is in the audio stream when you buy video from itunes. They use m4p instead of m4a whych they use with free trailers and things.

Got this from another users post. Hope it helps!

Tip of the day 01/02/06:
If you want to play the popular Video Podcast? (H.624 or .m4v/ MP4 format that Apple iTunes uses)
Download the latest Beta of TCPMP .71d and AVC plugins (.71e). The video in this format offers higher frame rate and better quality than Divx or Xvid.

FYI. I am using Juice as Podcast aggregator on my PC and MobSync to sync to my storage card, there are other methods as well..

For available video Podcast see here: http://www.podguide.tv/

The videos that are purchased from iTMS have DRM included so you cannot play them on your PDA.

Will it be possible for Google video or itunes to create a player for the PocketPC that would allow the DRM to stay in place and then we could play the videos?

Or is it a hardware issue and we won't ever be able to play the DRM stuff?

iTunes is a player, it's made by Apple. It's technically possible that Apple could create a iTunes for PPC, but it's probably highly unlikely.

I'd say the odds of Google making a player are higher, but I hear that their DRM requires an ACTIVE Internet connection while you play their content. So you could only play the video while your PDA has Internet access, if that is indeed true. So that would be a serious limitation.

Apple could do that if they wanted, but they never will because they'd be afraid of it cutting into their iPod sales.

I think Howard2K's right about Google's DRM requiring an active Internet connection... that's really a stupid thing for Google to do if they want to compete with Apple.

I just don't understand...Why in the world would you want to pay a 1.99 for a re-run of a show that is so restricted that you have to jump through hoops to watch it the way you want to. I say forget iTunes and Google video with their DRM crappy encoded videos and get yourself a TV Tuner card and record any show you want for free. And what I would recommend to Apple iTunes is drop the stupid DRM crap and offer ALL videos for FREE with ads imbedded in them...Imagine how many iPods they could sell, after all thats where their money comes from...But until then I have 2 PC's dedicated to recording shows like CSI,LOST,FAMILY GUY,SIMPSONS,KING OF THE HILL,ect...My problem is that I have so much recorded I don't have time to watch it all. But its all there on my hard drives when I do get ready to watch it and guess what ,I can put any of it on my Dell Axim and take it on the go with me with out a problem. So Thanks but no Thanks Apple and Google video. I already pay for all my video content once via DirecTV, I'll be dammed if I pay for it again...Sorry didn't mean to carry on so much...Back to topic

Has anyone here used the program JHymn? I found it after running into this problem with music purchased from ITMS. It basically takes a Itunes song, strips its DRM, and retools it as a MP3 and then puts it back in your Itunes folder. Then I was able to drag and drop it to my non-Apple MP# player. It was pretty easy, and I wouldn't be surprised to find another program that could do the same for Itunes videos.

I'd be very surprised to see it last. I don;t soubt someone could build it but Apple's got a ton of lawyers dedicated for that type of thing.

I myself wonder why the TV Networks don't just realese there own ad supported free show downloads. Wouldn't the number of downloads work as another Nielsen type indicator allowing the Networks to charge more to advertisers who want exposure on a really popular show?
