TCPMP display problem..

Hi,

I've finally got my Axim X51v running with all the apps I need, and I must say the 3D stuff is amazing. However I have one little problem that's bugging the hell out of me. When I use TCPMP I get strange results:

* The screen will freeze and drop sync with the sound, returning after a few seconds
* The screen freezes when there is lots of action
* The picture sometimes breaks up into pixel blocks

I have version 0.71 of the software and the required codecs. I used the software when it was betaplayer on an ipaq with less memory and cpu and it was perfect... hmm. Also the file I'm using is fine since I've watched it through on a dvix player using my PC.

I have also forced the CPU to 624 without any improvement.

Any tips would be great.

Cheers,

Jez

The latest Beta version is .71i, make sure you need all the below:
1-TCPMP player base code
2-AC3 Plugin (same level as base, e.g. .71i)
3-ffmpeg (same level as base, e.g. .71i)
4-AVC (version 71e is the latest)
5-AAC Plugin (.66)

Do I need to uninstall 0.71 first, or can 0.71i be installed on top of 0.71?

Are you running it from an SD card or a microdrive?

The software is running in system memory and the .avi file is located on a bytestor hi-speed 256mb SDcard.

I have installed the most recent stuff I could find.

I was hoping you'd say it was a microdrive. There's a microdrive setting that helps a lot for a situation like yours. Let's see now. How about defragging your SD card. If you have a card reader it's pretty easy and fast. The only other things I can think of are encoding parameters. Each person has a different idea of what is best but it is possible to rip a DVD in such a way that TCPMP has trouble with it while a desktop player won't. What are the properties of the file you're having trouble with?

And I''m moving this over to the Multimedia Forum.

I have had those same problems and I'm running an older version. The only time I've had this problem was when watching the downloaded episodes of the new Battlestar Galactica. It works fine when watching movies I have made with Fairuse Wizard.

Take a look at the Bit rate. 300 to 500 works okay for me. When it gets up to 750 or higher I have some problems with TCPMP stuttering. PocketDivxEncoder can convert those high Bit rate shows to a lower Bit rate or so I'm told. I've never actually used that program.

I have the same problem too with TCPMP V .71i playing *.avi files encoded with PocketDivxEncoder. Every 20 minutes of so the video freezes for a few seconds while the audio continues normally. The video the re-starts in synch with the audio.

I encode at 540 kbps and never had this problem with earlier versions of BetaPlayer.

As SolSie says in post #2 above, I have installed the following plugins :-

AC3 .71i
ffmpeg .71i
AAC .66

The AVC .71e plugin is no longer listed on the TCPMP website, so I assume that it is no longer necesary.

I have no idea what these plugins do. Can anyone tell me and also let me know if they are really necessary to play *.avi files?

I have X50v Enhanced GAPI v2.0a. Is this the latest?

The Enhanced Driver Mode was set to "XScale LCD Cotroller". I have now changed this to "2700G LCD Controller". Maybe this will do the trick. If so, my grateful thanks.
