And next update...

English: PC setup CAB file
German: PC setup CAB file

- Some bugfixes. I hope the crashes on some devices are fixed now - I couldn't reproduce them with my installation...
- "Relative preamp" was removed and replaced with "relative volume", which now really silences the device if set to lowest. "Relative volume" now works on the volume bar, so you have to set the "Switch volume and preamp slider" option (handling) to "No" if you want to use it.
- The recently modified playlist can be opened in Open dialog (more about this in this thread on my site - please enter discussion...). There's currently no warning if this playlist is about to be overwritten, it's just a small help if you forgot to save changes...
- Options for streaming timeouts

I like this info, personally (and would go so far as to mod any skin I was using to include it if it was available :hide: ).

I've been using beta16 a _lot_ and had no hanging issues at all. I've been away, so I'll grab beta18 now :approve:

Already there since b17...
It's TrackBitrate, TrackSampleRate, and TrackChannels.

There's already b20:
English: PC setup CAB file
German: PC setup CAB file

- some preparations for additional translations and better square screen and "real VGA" support (e.g. managing streams or bookmarks now should use the whole screen on those devices). You can already use [..._Square] sections in skins, similar to _ls for landscape.
- Power on crash should be avoided now. It seems like the playback thread somehow hangs in that case, then the player waited for all eternity until it's finished...
- Loading the directory/playlist contents on list skip (<[] / []> buttons) is delayed by half a second. That way, you can tap the button multiple times without further delay until the one you want is shown.
- Playlist titles for farvorites are now shown in brackets
- If the current file is contained in a directory that's listed in the favorites, switching to Changer Mode will load that folder and select the file
- Some bugfixes regarding the button lock settings

You need to work on the nasty "press Forward hardware button and switch the screen on" thing. I keep it in my coat pocket, so switching on the screen does nothing.

Huh? I can't avoid the screen's turned on for a few seconds when power is pressed. Everything else is configurable.

Problems creating playlists

I'm having problems creating playlists in version 20b. I have them on my CF card in subdirectories (one directory per artist), but the playlist won't pull in the songs. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rob

...it's like this attempt to create a playlist in b20 crashes the program...just shuts it down.

Thanks,

Rob

I'm trying to add music by going thru Playlist>Add or Playlist>open or Open dialog>Open or Open dialog>favorites. I even go into favorites and add the directory that houses the subdirectories. Either way I work it, I get nothing.

Thanks,

Rob

What's the best way to add files to a new playlist?

Thanks,

Rob

I really like the player. It has become my favorite player very quickly. Thanks for your work on this.

Strange, it should work that way... Which files are you trying to add? MortPlayer'll only add supported file types, i.e. mp3, mp2, ogg, wav, and - with additional plug-ins - mid and flac.
Are the files shown if you select the folder with "<Other file(s)>" in the open dialog?

As for the best way: That's up to your needs. The favorites are great for often used directories or playlists, and you can use them for the "Changer Mode". "Other path/playlist" is for rarely used directories (e.g. temporary stuff). And "+" is good if you don't like to lose the old playlist contents...

And now for something completely different: I added some surveys in my forum. I'd be nice if you'd take part ("you" meaning all readers in this case).

Also, b21 is available here. There aren't a lot of new features, but some internal changes important for future updates. If you're willing to take the risk, please tell me whether everything still works fine, esp. if you're using a VGA device with WM5 and/or "real VGA".

I'm going to go to the Mortplayer forum, but I thought I'd add my observations here too. I'm running b21 and have 2 issues.

1- If the player is running (mp3 file) and I shut off my X51v, upon restart the player will be frozen as will the OK button. I can access the start menu, but the system is extremely sluggish. I have to go into settings/system/memory and kill Mortplayer to regain control.

2- This is a problem that crept in with the beta. I can add and use bookmarks , but if I try to manage them the system freezes and eventually quits. I have no way to delete old bookmarks at this time.

I still like this player and realize that I'm playing with a beta.

1. I agree with the above post. Some times I keep the mortplayer "minimized" (press 'home' button to do other thigns and keep the mort player paused in the background) and if I do this long enoug, may be about 3 hours or so I won't be able to bring mortplayer back to focus. (with WA2, I can switch application running in the background) As above mentioned, if turn the x51v to standby mode with mortplayer running the program will freeze when turn it back on. (can't bring it to focus)

2. Is anyone experiencing a battery drain issue with this program? I have the battery charnged 100% in the morning, listen it for about hour and it usually goes down to 87%. What I usually do is just pause the player (leave it running but nothing is playing, the screen is off and locked via mortplayer's setting) After couple of hours I'll find the battery drained to 60%. The only way to avoid this is to completely quit the program.

3. Is there a way to improve the support for unicode? I can load a new list with unicode name fine and it plays no problem. If I quit the program and open it again, the playlist remains but the file with unicode name will be come like ???.mp3 and won't be recognized by the player. The only way is to clear the entire list and reload it again.

so far those are the problems I am experiencing, nothing major since I can get around with all of them. Just thought this player would be more perfect if small things like this can be fixed in the near future. Again, thanks for the great work

you can set mortplayer to turn off based on your default system settings when paused on the energy settings page...
