"Dropped frames"
during playback is most likely due to a glitch in the encoded file and/or overtaxing the Axim processor.
Dropping frames
during encoding is probably the fault of the desktop hardware/software not being able to keep up with the encoding process.
Dropped frames
during capture is most likely a slow/fragmented hard drive not accepting incoming data fast enough.
Audio/Video synch is another story.
Nicky's Digital Guides has a very good explaination and solution to A/V synch problems. Note the somewhat dated (but still useful) info and programs suggested. For the latest tools and tips of video processing, check out the
DVD Help site. "Tools" is an menu option in the left column.
I've seen and heard all of the above problems on my Axim. Sometimes tweaking the cache in PMVP helps, sometimes a re-encode is required. Keep in mind, video processing/playback is "pushing the envelope" on the little Axim (and some desktop systems). Maximizing the chances of success by giving your system(s) all the help you can. Close unused programs, free up all available memory, backup and defrag often and keep trying.
When you learn some new trick, come back here and tell the rest of us!
Hope this helps,
Jeff
