encode to 320x240 divx but gets out of sync help me master encoders!

Ok so I've got a tv capture that I did in mpg1 at 320x240. What I did was encode to divx at 200kbit and rotated the video so it would play fullscreen on my axim in landscape mode. I did encode every other frame etc (i.e. from the guide at pocketmatrix).. however the video starts out playing fine but ends up getting out of synch with audio and video. pausing the video or seeking to a differnt spot doesn't help at all (and usually makes it out of sync if it happens to be ok at the time when i'm playing it)

I tried also encoding in wmv at 320x240 also at 200kbit and it plays very well, however in fullscreen it's a bit choppy and I think this is partly due to the fact that WMP is rotating the video as it's playing it.

my questions are ... for one.. any way to improve sync issues with divx? I'm using the 4.12 codec and the latest version of pocket mvp.

and second, is there any way for me to encode a wmv and have the encoder rotate the video?

basically.. i just want to be able to watch the stuff i capture from tv on my axim at full 320x240 res.. any suggestions? I can't find anything on rotating wmv files.

thanks!

I have an ATI AIW7500 card and capture tv to watch on my ax all the time. I'm not sure why your video/audio are out-of-sync. Are you doing it like this:link?

What are your settings? i.e. what resolution and what bitrate?

and yeah, i'm following that guide (which is the same as the one on pocketmatrix site). are you encoding at full 320x240?

Using VirtualDub 1.4.13.

rotated
Divx 5.0.1

I do all of my encoding on an old PIII-550 desktop.

I'm not sure why divx 5 is working for me. I do use PocketMVP.

ok thanks for the reply.. i'm using the latest divx (i think newer than 5.01), but using 4.12 for encoding... anyway i'll try some encodes at 150kbps tonite to see if that helps .

I'd really like to figure out how to rotate a video when encoding in wmv as wmv looks pretty good also

The latest few builds of PocketMVP support Divx 5.x just fine... says so right on the website even.

There's also a new version 1.5.3 of VirtualDub, which fixes a few bugs found in 1.5.2 though I don't think the bugs would necessarily apply to what we're doing here.
