Playing AVI Files

Is there a way to play AVI files on an AXIM X50v? I bought some coursees and they are AVI. Fine for my PC, but was going to watch them on the train. I have a program that joins files so I joined two and converted it to WMA, but size & quality really suffered. Is there a way these can be played?

TCMP player

You can play avi files with TCMP player. Great program, free, works great.

Here is a link

Depends, TCPMP can handle most .AVI files but you'll need something to convert those files down to something the processor on your X50v can handle.

I'm moving this to the Multimedia forum.

OK, I tried TCMP and as Don't Panic inferred, the AVI file will not play. I get an error message saying the Video codec (TSCC) is not supported by the program. I am a little new to the whole idea of video codecs so am confused. Do I have to convert this to another format or to an AVI file with a supported codec? If I convert them to another format I worry about the quality suffering. Not sure what to do next.

Thanks

Well, i made a little progress. I tracked down the codec for my laptop, installed it & now the AVIs play on that. As far as the AXIM, I had copied the file to an SD card & put the SD card in the AXIM. I now did a copy & paste while connected to my laptop. It gave a message saying it was converting it to the handheld format. However, neithe Media Player or TCMP will play it. I still get the codec error on TCMP. I am going to write them to see if they have a solution to this.

If there are any other Ideas, I am open to them.

They came back saying they do not make a codec for the PPC version of Media player, bummer. Their suggestion also was to convert it to another format.

Oh well, I guess this is a dead issue then
