Memory / storage question

How many MB is the average movie once it has been re-encoded and ready to play?

It depends on the quality of the encoding. A copy of Shrek that I have (with lower quality) is about 89 MB. I copy of Lilo and Stitch, which better quality, is around 141 MB.

Using the guide to reencode using Virtualdub at 128 kbps, I have found that a 2 hour movie is about 120 MB or so.

Hmm, I must have missed something in the instructions... mine came out to 375MB! (I'll be trying that one again!)

If you use stereo, it will come out bigger. I have never used it, so I don't know how much bigger, but 375 MB is huge for using the guide. Give it another try, it is worth it if you get it right.
