Real Player Cab File Posted

Ive seen several posts on people having trouble with installing realplayer or wanting to know where to get it. The link to the cab file is posted here. Let me know if the link dies. Also posted here: http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/realplayer.cab

I've gotten it to work with wm5 x51v... sometimes. based on my limited experience I can't tell you if there's a pattern to the files it will and won't play, but it's not consistent. Also, the video is either too small or too big, it doesn't size well.

Playing RealOne streams requires your device to have full access to the Internet. it won't work through firewalls and/or ActiveSync-based (that is, also firewalled) connections. (See http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...3&p=344&more=1 for more info).

As far as installing RealOne Player is concerned, I've also devoted it an article here.

Real player used to be a must have way back when, before it became one of the worst bloatware EVER. I now consider Real Player right on par with a virus, there is no way I'm allowing it near any system I administer.

I posted the cab file, because the Windows installer wont work with newer versions of Activesync. This version was made in early 2002. I cant get it to open URLs, and its UI is ugly and not up to date. I also hate Realplayer, and when I come across a file for this player, Id rather play it on my pocket pc, then download the almost "virus" desktop Real Player.

BTW, much as the installer indeed isn't working with AS, it still unpacks its contents to

c:\Documents and Settings\Windows username\Local Settings\Temp\~rnsetup\

(where the trailing 'p' may change to 0, 1 etc... upon subsequent, non-deleted installs).

Note that these files will only exist after you start the installer, RealOne Player.exe, but before you close the error dialog.

I could install it without any problems using activesync 3.8.
Menneisyys.. I do know that I have to have full access to internet before I can view content that are on the web (otherwise I'd just be dull and my university degree in computing science would be a joke.. -.-)

Also I don't know which version of the player is posted in the op but I extracted the CAB file from the installer that is listed as the newer preview version on the real site. Lemme kno if anybody need it.
