Hey folks, what software could I use to play Real Media and the other types of files ? I own an Axim X51v.

pocket real player would work ;)

Don't Panic!

The realone player for pocket PC was designed for the PPC2002 OS and hasn't been updated for WM or VGA.

TCPMP can play .3gp files but not real player files.

Use tcpmp, it plays all the movie files, just like don't panic above says.

just because real player hasn't been updated for either doesn't mean you can't use it. It works fine there's just a trick to getting it installed, i'll post it when i find it again.

1) Go to this page on Real.com, fill in your details and choose the PocketPC version (the alternative being symbian)

2) On the next page choose RealPlayer for Pocket PC 1.1 Preview Release, and you'll download RealOnePlayerPPC11PR.exe

3) Begin the install, but don't click next when the first screen appears

4) Go to Start->Run and type %TMP% and when you press enter, your temp folder will open

5) Find the subfolder called ~rnsetup which is where the install program will have decompressed itself.

6)Find realplayer.cab and copy it from that folder to your device

7) once it is copied you can finish running the install program(won't work, it should say requires activesync 3.1 or higher and exit)

8) run the .cab file on your device

It should work, i personally use it all the time for episodes of southpark,simpsons,family guy etc... no problem, i actually prefer it in qvga mode for video because most of the time the episodes are encoded to 320x240. But if you want vga mode you can just use one of the tricks out there that you can find if you search these forums.

The only problem is it can't play rmvb files but that can be fixed by converting rmvb files to rm using easy real converter or another similar program which takes about 30secconds to 1.5 minutes(for me)

Other than that it plays rm and ram files great.

If you decide to try easy real converter(if you need to convert rmvb to rm) pm me because it isn't very straight forward to get it into rm instead of rmvb.
