Tried FairUse and on my computer it looks great. My card reader died so I have not put in on the pda yet because an active sync trans was a no go. I will get back on the dells visuals but I can comment on the time. This damn thing took the entire night to do. My computer is not the newest but its not slow. Oh yeah and getting the proper screen size was a pain and I still could not get it exact.

nobody mentioned Clone DVD Mobile. It's a nice lil app that will convert movies to any size for you automatically. If you use hte mp4 codec for TPmcp or whatever it's called you can format it in IPOD video and watch it on your pda. You could take a 4 gig movie and get it compressed just enough to fit it on a 512mb card. Although I recommend atleast 1gig.

Got the fair use movie onto the x51 and it looks perfect. 1 hr and a half long and looks like a tv. Took up 700mb so I will work on this part next. My only gripe is it literally took all night long to encode.

I use DVD Catalyst and well worth every penny and its fast.a 30 minute program converted to vga in dvix format in 7 minutes.full episodic(if thats a word) in 120 to 130 minutes.I love it because it works on both files and dvds with no problems.Again worth the price spent.

Also check out the batch feature in Pocket Catalyst if you have a lot of videos to convert. Thats a feature I use quite often. Just click on the view advanced settings and then the add files button and add as many as you like before you select convert and when one is finished it moves on to the next one.

I tried clone and fairuse can easily do better. I think clone has the best time but the file size is way too big. The others can do the same quality with half the file size.

I'm new to this and tried all the trial converts. I found Pocket DVD studio the best for me. Of course I needed a click and play program. It converts both Windows format and AVI. I'm playing around with AVI now and using the core player. Paul

I had the same problem with Wizard. It also locked up in full screen mode.:realmad:

I use 300 Kbps for video and 64 Kbps for audio on most stuff. At least thats a good starting point for quality and size. You will just have to experiment with it until you find a quality that is good for you verses the file size you need. Higher the quality, the bigger memory card you have to have for your Axim.

I want near perfect quality so for 640x480 I use 840kbps for video and 128kbps for sound. A 1 hour and 36 min movie sucked up ~550mb but looks near perfect (only in a few instances do I see that weird squaring in the background )and sounds great. So I slap on some headphones, press play and I can enjoy church while my 4 year old son enjoys power rangers.
