Aximsiteactivesyncicon TCPMP to become CorePlayer/BetaPlayer

We are talking below on CoreCodec in this thread...
http://www.corecodec.com/index.php?o...0&topic=2642.0

Let me tell you what is going on and what you all should prepare for as we get ready for our 1.0 releases. But before that... let me break down each version of our player.

- TCPMP will be renamed back to BetaPlayer™ and will be our Open Source playground for testing new technologies for third party licensing.
- Giving birth will be the long awaited CorePlayer™ , it will be our Closed Source version with alot of features not available in BetaPlayer.

I'm not going to go through alot of the details of in each version at this time. But I will let you know that codecs for our Open Source version of BetaPlayer will be available to purchase in a bundle (CoreASP, CoreAVC™, CoreMP3, CoreAAC v2.0). So no more confusion on proper playback.

CorePlayer will also feature: an entirely new GUI interface, Advanced Streaming, UPNP support, Integrated webserver, Client Database...

What OS's?: CE, Windows Mobile, Windows, .NET, Palm, Symbian, Brew, OS X, MacTel, Java, Linux GTK, Linux QT, Linux Qtopia, Linux Freescale.

Questions?

Cool. I use this player for virtually all my music and video on my PDA. Will be interesting to see exactly what differences there will be in the 2 new players to come out of this.

What are we losing in the free Betaplayer compared to what we have now with TCPMP?

I always had a problem when turning off the device during a movie, then turning it back on to play, I'd get a buffer underrun error and have to restart it.

But whatever works for you!!

Will coreplayer be able to support streaming like wmp can. Ive pasted some web addresses into tcpmp and it can open the .wmv and .wma ones. But i get errors on .asx. I want to play streaming radio in this new coreplayer, so i can say goodbye to wmp. We would love it if this player supported streaming. Then tcpmp or coreplayer would be the best.
You know what would make it the best ever? It it supported realplayer files and streaming realplayer stuff. IDK if this is hard to do or copywrited, but the realpayer for ppcs now sux.

TCPMP always seems to hang after about 5 hours of SHOUTcast streaming, whether in mp3 format, or in AAC+.

A streaming radio station i listen to allows a maximum of 5 hours. They probably set up the same limit. It can be annoying. I editied the .asx file and switched the 5 hours that was in it. It was out in the open. Dont know if you can do that to mp3 or acc wihtout corruting it.

This is what the asx file look like open in notepad. Its a canadian rock station i found on the net.

Hmmm, I do believe that they is an option to bump up the buffer in the settings, (not 100% on that) But i think i did it early on and i can turn the pda on and off during a movie and not effect playback. I'll look around ifn you're interested.

On another note, I'm glad its back to BetaPlayer, I always liked that name, and now i can use my signature image again!

Looking in the listen.pls file, there's no such thing. It only lists one playlist entry and nothing else! Perhaps the configuration is in the stream itself.
