Audio out from charging cradle?

Is there a method of receiving audio out directly to an external amplifier from the Axim connections at the bottom, using the USB cable without using a computer in the circuit?

This would be a good alternative to constanting plugging and unplugging a mini-phone plug into the jack at the top of the unit since that jack seems to be fragile and vulnerable to failure after constant use.

Doubt it very much, you would need a custom cable

What about streaming using WiFi?

But then you would be transferring the stress of plugging/unplugging to the bottom connectors instead.

Cradle Audio Out

I have't read of/had any problem with the bottom connectors (I have had and read of problems with the audio jack). Most of us cradle the Axim every day (or several times a day) anyway - it would be a helpful option to be able to get audio out from the cradle.

Custom cable or audio out of cradle

I guess the question should be: "Are there any "audio out" contacts in the connector at the bottom of the Axim?"

If there are, then someone may consider providing a hardware adapation to accommodate it - there may be a market. I think it would be neat to have one more output at the bottom rear of the cradle to plug into an external amplifier - similar to the docking stations available for the iPod.

There is no way to do this, no audio is sent out through the bottom connector.

There is no audio plug, but if you were to send the audio like data is sent through the cable, you would be able to stream audio to the pc. IDK why youd want to do this, unless you have whole bunch of mp3s on your axim. Then, just make the axim a mass storage device and play the mp3s from the pc.

That is the answer I was looking for. Thanks. So know I don't have to worry about inventing a cradle to facilitate transmission of a non-existent analog output signal.

Jakub: See spunker88's answer - it's a DATA port. It's not a dedicated audio port, which means that the sound data is sent as that; data, not as an actual audio signal that is translated by the speaker into a voice prompt.
