avi files will not play video on Axim 51V or laptop
I cannot figure out why my avi files will only play on my desktop and not on my laptop or Axim 51V. I get clear sound but no video.
The quality of the video and audio playback on my desktop is better than the combination of trial version of Pocket DVD Wizard and freeware version of DVDFab Decrypter that I tried previously.
I've tried file sharing via my network, the SD card and burning the avi file to DVD (laptop playback) with no luck.
BTW, my desktop is running XP, my laptop came with Vista Home Premium and of course, WM5 on the Axim 51V.

Any suggestions?

TIA

This is the easiest tutorial I've seen on the subject, and FairUse does just fine. One thing I might add is that you don't need to be limited in resolution to your screen's specs -- I did two separate ones of the same movie for my X30 at 320X240 and 608X448. While the lower res worked OK, the higher res was noticeably sharper -- and the better detail allowed me to run the screen at a lower illumination level, which saved on the power.

One thing you'll see in the tutorial screen -- but isn't mentioned -- is that the "Show Only Preferred Resolutions" button is Off, and FairPlay's default seems to have the button set to On. Turn it off and you'll get a lot more selections to fiddle with.

Again, great, great stuff. Thanks.

What if there is more than one movie on one dvd
Thank you Steve for the detailed instructions. I followed your directions and it worked perfectly.
I have a question though. How do you convert movies if you have more than one movie on 1 DVD disk? Thanks again.

I don't understand what I need to download from RareWares. I must need something because I followed this tutorial & I can watch my movie on my computer but not on my PDA. Something is missing.

Excellent tutorial to get started
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It worked great the first time. I had no experience on getting a movie to the x50v and this was a great place to start. Best of all it cost nothing. Also a big thanks to all the followup posters with questions and comments. I've been using my AX for a lot of stuff over the past several years but was a bit aprehensive of the jump to movies.

... and I though I couldn't get along without my AX before ...
