DVD Player

Hi there.
I moved a whole DVD to a memory card and was wondering if there are any software programs that allow playback of memory cards?

Thank you.

I don't see information on it supporting mpeg-2 and just RAW dvd formatting.

I already tried some conversion programs which worked out pretty well and compacted just thinking about the future of the movie industry with memory card storage instead of dvd's, just wondering whether or not anybody developed a dvd player for a pocket pda. So I can buy a $350 8GB compact flash memory card and backup any whole DVD (even commercial ones) and play it on my Axim 50v. Cool but nuts...

Well like the other posters said, you will have to convert your dvds because your PPC wouldnt even dream of playing a non converted dvd specially a copy and pasted one because it will be encrypted. Do you relize you can put around 16 whole DVDs movies of pretty decent quality on that 8 GB CFC your talking about?

It took me about 12 hours to do a dvd conversion and that was something without copy protection. Takes like 30 minutes to move a whole Commercial DVD to a 8GB CF but I can't do anything with it though. That's why I'm looking for a DVD Player, I mean how difficult can it be? It's Windows Mobile 5.0 after all

Wow, converting comercial dvds with fairuse only take a little longer than it takes to play the dvd. It is also automatic, including the option to turn off your pc when it's done, so I just start one before I go to bed or before I start something else that takes a few hours and the conversion is done and ready to play when I go back to it.
Besides being a strain on storage, a full DVD may also be a strain on the available horsepower of the Axim, since file transfer speeds are not very high between storage and the Axim and a full DVD is a lot of data to move.

Compression(nice word huh)most people try to squeeze as much as they can on a memory card so converting is a logical choice.
To write a dvd player program would probably take half your memory or more to run.I have an 8gig hitachi drive and using DVD Catalyst,I can put 22 one hour episodes in 1.2gig of space at 640x480 and play back with tcpmp is fantastic quality. My x51v Has replaced my laptop on the road.If you want to stream it via wifi then use orb.it will stream all your movies and shows to your axim and its free.

I convert one hour of video to dvix or wmv in 32 minutes

Come on Swim...blitor just hasnt figured out what a Pocket PC can and cannot do just yet so lets give him/her a chance. But like you say..."Listen to us" blitor and you shall learn more than you want to know about Pocket PCs. Give DVD Catalyst a try...It is free for 5 full days so you can do several DVDs in that time and you will see it don't take that long to do this. Click on DVD Catalyst in my Sig. Plus there is a lot of free ways to do this also.
