Mad X30 High Broke due to poor Music Player design

I was walking and listening my Axim, I had my headphones on, and the machinne was in its belt holdster.
Sudently, some man ask me some question, I took out the machinne from its holster to press the pause button, and it sliped from my hands...

I got a lot of remote controls from defective devices, like a Creative small IRDA remote, but I haddn't been able to found any Media Player that can be used to comand the program IN the Pocket, every one is focused in controlling a desktop PC using the Pocket as a remote, but I want to use a IR remote control to managge the player IN the Axim, so I never had to take it from its holster.
Anybody knows how to do that??

If you have a remote that is a "learning" remote, meaning you can customize the signlas its sends out, this is possible. You would have to make the remote understand ir signals from a ppc ir keyboard, like the think outisde one. Then the ppc would be able to understand the ir code as a keystroke and you could customize the player to pause/play, etc at this keystroke that is imitated using a learning remote. It was disscusssed before.

It is certainly possible to control a program through IR/BT. But the program in question must be able to interpret the signals. A good example of this is Conduits Pocket Slides which can be controlled by IR or BT when in presentation mode.

The pocket pc could interpret the ir/bt signals if it had a think outside keyboard driver installed, ehich is free to download. You could then make a remote imitate a keystroke.

ya in this case the driver would be the interpreter. But not very many programs can be controlled only with keyboard signals. Also, when you say "make a remote imitate", what kindda device are you referring to as the remote and how can the specific signals be imitated?

Another solution could be to run a modified version (program specific) of something like the Bemused (open source) server and controller.

I do not think any of the Media Players for Pocket PC accept infrared commands. Bluetooth maybe but not Infrared.

or you could just miss a couple seconds of your favorite song by just taking off the headphones if someone was talking to you and then you could save your wallet, your device, and your time....

Yea but...

But the thing is there are programers ofering universal remote control programs, and media players one's, so they have all the knowledge to make their players learn my Ir remote, but they never think on the idea. Let's say:
Vito Remote and Vito Sound Explorer.

I want to attach the deam machinne to my car so I can listen MP3 music, so I need the remote.

Yea, sound a good solution, a universal remote (it can learn), but I had to look one really small, all I know are big ones, problem is I have the standard keyboard and a Irda one Its gonna cost me here, at least 80 bucks.:approve:

Anybody can rent me a Irda keyboard for the learning process?, I also need the drivers. he he he

I own the think outside ir keyboard. If you tell me how to record the ir signals, I will do that. Just pm me. Its a $45 kb.

If you get a learning ir remote, it can be programmed. Then you would program lets say "s" into the remote. The think outside ir keyboard driver is free. Just install the driver onto the device, so the pocket pc will know what to do with the ir signals. Cutsomize the player so it pauses at the "s" key. The remote sends out the ir signal "s" recorded from the to ir keyboard. The pocket pc picks up this signal thinking a regular ir keyboard did it. It then relays the "s" to the program, and stop goes the music.

If it is possible for me to record the signals off my ir keyboard in some sort of text value, and then post them here, just pm me.

If your concerned with pausing it, why dont you just set pause and volume control to your scroll wheel???? its easy to get to and does the trick so you dont have to remove it from the case!!!

Yeah, that's what I do and it works well. I just have to press in the dial and it's paused. Or, I just take off the headphones, which usually works fairly well...
