wma to mp3

I use wma on my axim x50 and on my wifes "mp3" player. My children just received two players that only support mp3. Is there an way to convert the songs over to mp3 in windows media player without messing my axim conversion settings or should I use another program?

The only way I know to do this is to burn your .wma files to a CD, then insert the CD and rip to .mp3 with Media Player

You can use a converter such as dBpowerAMP to convert between formats, but keep in mind quality will degrade. It's best to rip from the source (i.e., the original CD).

iTunes will allow you to convert from WMA to MP3. And it's free. But like Gigi says, you're going to get some degradation.

Like when you make a photocopy of a document, and then photocopy that photocopy. It'll get a little bit worse with each generation. Re-ripping from the source CD is the best bet if you're concerned about the quality.

I recommend MediaCoder. It is open source so it is free. It will also convert virtually anything.

I use it to convert m4a files to mp3 or wma. I also use it to convert iPod videos to .avi format.

Hey Pablo. I've tried to convert avi files (that I converted to avi from original DVD) to mp4 for video Ipod but I really have no idea how to specify the output using MediaCoder. It sounds like you're familiar with this conversion stuff. Can you help me?

And thanks for your service. My family appreciates your sacrifices.

like others have said, you will lose quality. if you have the original cd it's best you rerip it from that. otherwise, there are many programs that will do what you wish (I use dBpowerAMP).

Well, I don't think that any extension will have any noticable problems. Go with .Avi and TCPMP. It is very effective for me with fast loads, good quality and great sound( not to mention.avi is very space efficent.

Any audio editing and converting software can be of use. Suggests FlexiMusic Wave Editor. Directly can't read WMA file in FlexiMusic Wave Editor, so play and record the Wma file in the software and then using "Save As" command, convert and save the recorded Wma file to Mp3 format.
