Will TCMP ever get updated?
I'm using the latest version of TCMP on my X50v, and it's fairly decent, but it needs some SERIOUS updates.
First, it's time for some subtitle plugins, to be able to watch anime etc on the PDA. Second, some better video file compatibility. Third, some Real Player compatibility. And forth, I have some odd issues where the video file I'll be watching will "freeze" for several seconds, but the audio will continue. Then it unfreezes seconds later and continues. This happens maybe, every 10 or 12 minutes of video. Boo.
Any word on updates anytime soon?

umm, for me, TCPMP works great. it supports EVERY codec out there, and plays video better than any other program.
as for updates, it's supposed to be updated and then re-released as betaplayer (again). not sure what will be improved upon however.

I'm glad it works for you. No offense, but that doesn't really help me.

TCPMP player works great for me to! I normally do ask for updates and complain about products that are free. (Unless I make a donation to the project).

It works great, but it could use a better way of browsing music. Something like what you find in WMP, as it isn't easy to browse by artist/genre/etc.

My only problem with TCPMP is...well...it's just too damn good! It's the only application I can truly depend on!

The Only thing I'd like to see added is some basic skinning support. The Meat of the player is fantastic it just needs some prettying up.

Thanks for the responses. I'm having trouble locating this subtitle viewer. Can someone link me please?
Thanks in advance.
I may try reverting back to 0.71 (running 0.72) to see if it fixes my video freezing issues.
Also, what are the best settings for converting the average .avi file, using PocketDivxEncoder?
Thanks again!

I occasionally had the same video freezing problem as you using 0.71 but so far I have never has it using 0.72 :approve:
The settings I use for PocketDivxEncoder for 640x480 VGA files are :-
Video Quality 33 - Bitrate 542
Audio Quality 6 - 44kHz Stereo 96kbps
2 pass encoding
15 frames per second
De-interlace
VHQ
Audio normalization and Live Effect
These give about a 250MB file size for a 50 minute clip, with excellent video and audio quality (DVD quality). Probably as good as my X50v VGA screen can resolve.
Omniquiti have recently produced an upgraded version of PDE called Lathe. PDE users can upgrade to Lathe for $5.95. It has a nice user interface and claims to give faster encoding and better picture quality. In my limited experience the picture quality does indeed seem somewhat improved.

Yep, and I still don't see any links to that subtitle viewer.
So, anyone got a link for me?
I've never seen a language changer/subtitle switcher that works, especially for .avi files that have the audio/subtitles built in to the file.
