Hello everybody :)

I'am new at all this pocket pc stuff, this is the first day with my dell axim x51v :) ... so could anyone tell which codec plugin I need to play divx movies on my pocket pc? which file should should I download tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab or tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.exe and how do I install them?

The .exe files are to be downloaded to the desktop, then with your device synced click on the .exe on the desktop and installation begins through Activesync.

The .cab files available at the test site can be downloaded directly to your PPC then when you tap on them they install themselves, No Activesync needed.

As far as codecs go in my opinion it is best to download and install them all. You never know when you may want to watch some contant other than Divx.

What message did TCPMP give you when you tried to play the file. OR what did it do, did it crash your device?

Try opening the file with TCPMP instead of clicking on iit in the File Explorer. Open TCPMP then Click on FIle Open File and navigate to where the file is then tap on it. If it doesn't play automatically just hit the play button.

If you are more comfortablle using the file explorer to play your files then Open TCPMP, Click on OPtions > Settings > Select Page > File Associations and check all the boxes. This will make TCPMP the default player for all your multimedia files. You'll see the TCPMP icon on the files as well by doing this.
