Mortplayer Playlist Question

Hello All:

A quick question to you MortPlayer vets out there.

I have a large CF card that I play music off of. My music is organized on this card by \artist\album\title.mp3

I recently downloaded a nifty little playlist creator. I used that software to create playlists (I've tried all 3 formats, .asx , .pls, and .m3u). I saved these playlists into a folder in the same directory structure as the rest of my music ( the folder was on the same level as artist and the path to the playlist is \playlists\*.pls).

In mortplayer, I have the settings such that all the folders and subfolders containing my mp3s appear in the favorites structure. I updated the favorites structure such that the new "Playlist" folder also appears. However, when I use the open dialouge to navigate the the Playlist folder, none of the playlist files are visible or selectable.

I used the 'manage favorites' dialogue to try to change my settings. Specifically, I changed the settings for my root folder where my music is stored. When I selected the "Use only contained playlist files", I was able to see my newly created playlists and play them perfectly. However, checking this option made all my folders with music in them disappear.

Is there any way to see directories with music in them and also be able to use playlist files??

Yes. Just add the root folder twice, once with "contained playlists" checked, and once without.
The reason why MortPlayer doesn't allow both for the same favorite is quite simple: Usually, playlists refer to files located nearby. This means, you'd get (mostly) the same tracklist for e.g. \Storage\Band\Album directory contents and \Storage\Band\Album.asx. So when you skip to another favorite (list skip buttons) or use "Shuffle all" there's a quite high risk to get the same tracklist or file again. I.e., usually its better to use directory contents OR playlists...

I never found the 'perfect' answer to this problem. However, it doesn't bother me as bad any more.

I started using iLauncher. I have a tab for music and I put shortcuts to my playlist files there. Then, I associated mortplayer with the playlist file types. Now, anytime I want to listen to a particular playlist, it is just a tap away.

That isn't the 'ideal' scenario.. but it works and I don't find myself wishing I could view both playlists and mp3s at the same time anymore.

When you origninally posted, I did try it and it didn't work.

However, I just tried it again and after a little bit of tweaking, I have it working now.

In order to be clear, I have to describe my directory structure.

My music files are located in \cf card\music\artist\album\song.mp3

my playlist files were located in \cf card\music\Playlist folder\playlist.m3u

On my first attempt, I added the folder \cf card\music twice. Once I checked 'use contained playlists' and once I didn't. With that setup, the song files showed up, but the playlists didn't. In other words, no change.

However, on this most recent attempt, I moved the playlist directory to:

\cf card\Playlist folder\playlists.m3u

when I add THAT folder and select 'use contained playlists' I get the desired behavior. I guess it doesn't like it when the playlist folder is in a subfolder of an existing favorite folder. At any rate, I have it up and running now!

Mort strikes again!

Well, in this case you'd have to check "Include subdirectories" for the playlist folder, too. And it'd look a bit confusing in the Open dialog, since "Music" would appear twice - once for the contained folders, and once for the contained playlists...
An more easy solution might have been to add \cd crad\music\playlist folder as favorite...
