assuming that you have video files on a storage card (since they are sizeable - i was able to fit a 2 hour dvd on one 512 mb card) in your axim, simply open tcpmp / click file / click open file and search for the location of the avi file you want to play. if you have not ripped/encoded a dvd, i suggest the fairuse tutorial in the forums.

I am getting an error that the dvd could not be converted inside fairuse program. Error number: 131C3C20.

Could someone help me figure out what I need to do to correct this. I will wait for your answer.

Thank you.

When I use Fairuse, every once in awhile there is a video that just won't convert for some reason. I don't know why. For now, try to get the first one under your belt, then worry about the problem video later. Generally this process is very simple, though time consuming. Get another video and try it again and get it to work.

As for why a video won't convert, it could be many reasons, but one guess is that the DVD could have scratches on it, or it could have protection schemes on it that Fairuse is not designed to decrypt. I've only run into this problem twice and I just accept it and move onto the next video. Don't worry about it.

ok the conversion went well.n I left the computer alone no web surfing..etc. The resolution I wentt what was highlighted which was 432x352 and played it on axim X50v and it played great.

I wanted to try another movie but the resolution was different than before, it was 432x304, so I canceled it. I was going to redo it but it told me name existed so I browse for the FairUse file and it picked up from where I canceled it aand selected the resolution I wanted which was 480x352.

Currently I am in the process in completely the 2nd movie, let you know what happens.

Thank you again.

Sony DVD which I believe includes Columbia Pictures too have a very tough encryption stuff on them which may be why fairuse can't encode. I've ran into the same problems using DVD decryptor or DVD shrink on my personal copies of SONY DVDs.

Glad you have it working, Gizmo. I think you can squeeze more resolution, however, b/c the screen will let you go 640 x 480 max. See if you can get closer to 640x480 without going over.

Thanks for your feedback, too, Arcticmaniac.

In order to change the resolution of these movies would I have to redo them or can I change the properties?

Check out Step 9 of the tutorial, that's where it tells you how to choose the best resolution. Read the tutorial again, and if you have questions you can pm me.
