I downloaded the TCPMP player and install the AAC (v.0.66 from rareware) codec to be able to view movies on my Axim V51... Anyway, I always get the error message "Video codec (MPEG-4 Video) not supported"... all I get is the sound from my movies that have been encoded using "PocketDivXEncoder"? I've been searching this forum for answers but with no success!?

Can anyone help me?

Unfortunately, I have had the same problem with some of my video as well. I used the rareware acc, which allowed me to play MKVs, but still no MP4 fix. I would also appreciate some help on this subject :)

I downloaded the tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab and it did solve the problem.
Now it's working fine :)
I wasn't sure which version of the cab to get or how to install it, so I took the new TCPMP 72 version instead. It played my MPEG-4 Video, but it was all pixalated (sp . Also, some of the video that normally played well for me, started to slow and show the countdown timer thing. So, I decided to just let the mpeg-4 go for now. I can live without it:)
You install a cab by copying it to your device and just opening the cab (use file explorer).
Checking their website, current version is 0.71 or 0.72RC1
Thanks for the advice on cab files, PocketBrain. I was wondering how to deal with those types of files, but I thought I'd get flamed if I tried to ask such a simple question without searching on the forms for more than a day.
I was wondering, which version are you currently using and what cab files have you installed for it that make TCPMP work well for you?

Thanks again:)
I think that it is pointless to flame people for asking a question. Even if it has been answered before. It is simpler to post at least a link to the answer. It keeps the community nice and friendly and far more informative and helpful.
Install the ffmpeg plugin to get mp4 to play.
mp4 encodes may play slow, I think because they are more CPU intensive.

Thanks for the encouraging post Victor516:approve:
I come and read the posts here pretty often. Most everyone here is really nice and helpful. However, there are a couple of times I've seen really insensitive responses to simple questions. I'll try not to hesistate in asking next time.
Fightncomet, there's always going to be some nasty people wherever you go, but fortunately, they don't tend to stick around here. :) Aximsite, is by far, one of the friendliest communities on the Net! :approve:

Totally agree. I've had very poor quality with any mp4 files I've tried, even after fiddling with CPU, buffering, etc. Basically, I was watching a slide show with audio!
If you can find TCPMP plugins: AVC, AAC then the playback is very smooth...
;-)

Hi everyone. Not that this is exactly what you want but I suspect it will work: I have a PPC-6700 from Sprint and TCPMP on it. It runs WM 5.0. When I downloaded it at first it would not play .mp4 movies. I went back and downloaded the FFMPEG plugin file and pow, movies play incredibly well. I suggest that everyone here trying to play movies experiment with both your format, compression schemes etc until you find what works. To get there you will need to make sure you download the codecs necessary to see the movies first. Once you do this, and can see the video, play with settings, pushing the envelope so to speak until the movie becomes jerky and will not play smoothly then back off the data rate. Use variations until you establish what works. If you do this, I bet I can get the info to people at Dell to help establish a set up guidlines for best known methods for making and watching mvies on an Axim or other devices using Windows Mobile 5. And yes, WMP on the PPC 5.0 is horrible. It won't play much! Lacks real support and plugins. One more thing. The X50V has a special video chipset in it but nobody I know is taking advantage of the hardware acceleration it offers. I fly private airplanes and I use moving map software on an axim and it could do a lot more. If someone knows what the secret sauce is, the guys at www.approach-systems.com would love to know about it! 3D enabled moving maps and terrain etc would be possible!
I reinstalled the latest TCPMP and all of the plugins including the FFMPEG. I can play MP4s but its choppy. It was described best as a slideshow with audio but this only ocurrs with MP4.
