Playing videos/movies

Any help would be appreciated: I would like to play videos/movies on my x3 and don't mind paying for them. I want to just download them to pc desktop then directly (maybe through a card reader) onto my Dell. I don't really want to go through the process of encoding/shrinking or whatever else.

For playing movies on your axim, TCPMP (BetaPlayer).

Where are the videos/movies to download without processing?

Unfortunately, there isn't much of a (legal) market for what you are looking for. This link has a few sources for you:

I'm not aware of any sites for new movies in PPC format. If you like old movies and the like you can go here for public domain movies. I have downloaded and copied directly to my Axim and used TCPMP to play them.

Gigi,
Thanks, I've tried all those links but like you say, there's not many full movies or videos for ppc even when you're willing to pay for them!

I downloaded PocketTV and some free mpeg film trailers, along with an old film (750mb) called 'Kid Dynamite' which incidently I enjoyed, oh! and a film documentary called 'The Quiet One' which was good too.

So can I convert DVD's into mpeg in order to get them onto my Dell Axim? By the way, the Axim plays Audio/Video really well and the sound is superb; only problem is battery consumption if you were out and about away from the charger!

If you don't want to rip/convert movies, maybe you'd like CinemaNow or Vongo

I'd like both but only one is available for me seeing that I'm from the U.K. Vongo is exclusively for the US market, but thanks anyway!

There are a couple tutorial in this forum converting DVDs to PPC friendly files. It is a bit time consuming but there is a certain cool factor when you show your friends what that Ax can do.

I'm taking a bus ride to Texas later this year.. roughly 24 hours. By then I'll have a 4 gig SD card which could hold 16 movies easily. That, along with nearly 2 gigs of music (35 hours I think) and a battery extender I'll have plenyy of entertainment at my fingertips.

Are you saying that if you convert your own DVD's you can reduce them to around 250mb each? Also, what do you mean by 'battery extender'?

That is exactly what I'm saying. :)

A battery extender is a pack that you can plug into your Ax that usually holds 4 AA batteries. If your main battery is fully charged the Ax will draw current from the battery pack. When battery pack drains you just swap the batteries for new ones and keep rolling. Do an ebay search for your axim model # and "battery extender" and you'll see a million of them. You can also build your own-- there are tutorials here to walk you thru it if you aren't afraid of a soldering iron.

I've ordered a battery extender for my X3 but can't figure out where it plugs in?
