Podcasts on PocketPC

I'm sorry as I know I've run across this before but I don't have a good understanding of how to get Podcasts to my PocketPC.

I've given my iPod Nano to my son since I bought my new Axim X51v and I'm trying to get all the different podcasts I've been listening to for a long time to my Axim.

I've gone out and copied the MP3 format down from some of the websites and then listened to them but it's much more cumbersome than my old iTunes way of doing things. Can I use iTunes to copy the podcasts to my Axim somehow?

Is there an easier way to do this? Is there a good program to help me do this? I've looked at several programs that are RSS readers but I've not been able to figure out how to make it work.

I'm looking for any and all advice or recommendations. Thank you all!

If I am not mistaken your WMP can auto-snyc things on connection of your device. Look into that.

I simply use a card reader and just copy my podcast on to my SD card then delete them as I go....If you want to stick with iTunes you might want to look into this http://solsie.com/?p=51 I've not tried it, I just got that from a search and had seen it here on aximsite before. Good Luck.

I'll try out that link when I get home tonight and see if it works. Thanks. I also clicked on and am going to try out that PocketDVD program you had listed.

Yeah, I think you will like DVD Catalyst, it's a kick but program. It will handle not only DVD ripping but also has a video encoding program built in. I use it almost on a daily basis.

There are 2 approaches with Podcast or Vidcast:

1-Aggregate on your PC (Juice, iTunes) and sync to your Axim storage card over ActiveSync with Mobsync. I use Mortplayer to playback my Podcast - Since MP is the only player that can create dynamically the playlist and sort the new entries on top. For Vidcast, I use TCPMP (with AVG-H264, AAC, FMPEG Plugins)

2-Aggregate directly to your WM device (if you have fast connection such ED-VO) using aggregator such FeederReader, etc.. or this solution I just posted at my blog here!

Hi ... I've installed TCPMP and the FMpeg plugin but it still won't play mp4's. I know there is another thread on this topic because I was looking at it earlier today, but I can't find it again - sorry. the message I get on the X51v screen when trying to play an mp4 is "ERROR: MPEG4 AAC audio decoder not included! It was removed from the official install package because of intellectual property considerations."
Any suggestions for tweaking or working around this would be gratefully received. Tnx ... Scott (Melbourne, Oz)

STOP PRESS - I found the answer here http://www.pocketpcmag.com/forum/top...TOPIC_ID=19618

Essentially meant I had to install an AAC plugin for an older version of TCPMP (version .66 I think). And it seems to work fine now :-)

But thanks Greg, for the very very fast response - this site is one of the best BB's I am using.

I use FeederReaderCF for my podcasts. when I sync I just open it up and tell it to dowload all the updates. if you have wifi then it'll be even faster.

I use Juice to get the podcast to my desktop. I then use auto playlists in WMP to sync them to my X50v. The playlists can be setup to only transfer files created in the last 30 days.

On your PDA, two good RSS readers are Egress at:

http://www.garishkernels.net/egress.html

Which is commcercial (although there is a trial version)

and pRSSreader:

http://pda.jasnapaka.com/prssr/

which is free.

I originally ditched pRSSreader because at the time it didn't support downloading enclosures and purchased Egress. Been messing aroubnd with pRSSreader today and think I'll go back to it.

I have PocketRss and it supports that. I normally update via wifi daily before I leave for work.

It supports audio. Video is another question. I'm currently wanting to do this as well as there is a morning show that now has podcasts.

FeederReader supports audio, video, images, text. Actually, FeederReader can play any enclosure that can be launced on your Pocket PC including Excel, Word, PDF, too, if you have the programs for reading those file formats.

There's also BitTorrent parsing built-in, where it can give you information about the file, and launch the BitTorrent client (3rd party program) to actually download the BitTorrent file.

Yes. On a Pocket PC. And the Smartphone version is in Alpha (Let me know if you'd like to test the Smartphone version!).

If you haven't tried FeederReader in a while, I recommend you try the latest (V0.62). It has helpful podcast icons and retains all the flexibility and power of previous versions.

I'm stress testing FeederReader at the moment with over 1500 feeds and podcasts. It's working well!

I'm always taking recommendations on how to improve the program. So if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
