Hey everyone, its been a while since Ive been on here.... But I got a question for you guys. I Am really getting p.o. ed at WMP 11 and iTunes because WMP jams up when trying to play large files, and iTunes sound quality isnt loseless. I am kinda a "perfectionist" when it comes to my music and videos. I like "perfect" lossless music quality, and the highest resolution videos/dvd's.
->What program whould you reccomend for me to use to play and rip music and dvd's? Thanks a lot! :)

If you think you'll hear any difference between a lossless file and a well-encoded MP3 at 192+ Kb/s ABR on a device as electronically noisy as a PDA, you're kidding yourself. Axims are NOT audiophile-level equipment.
Please note that I'm not saying that you won't hear a difference between iTunes downloads and well-encoded files, though :)
Yes, I know iTunes is not an audio format, but .m4p and .m4a were what I was refering to. In reply to porkrind, Im speaking in general, for both playback on my computer, and axim. I would like a program that does lossless, can play almost every codec, doesnt jam up, and is "good looking" (Yes, I know about TCPMP for the Axim!) I was considering NERO, anyone know anything about that? Thanks.

You don't need NERO. The best audio rippers are free. Try ripping your CD's with EAC (Exact Audio Copy) and the Ogg Vorbis encoder at quality level 6. OGG is generally regarded to be the most transparent-sounding lossy format.
If by some miracle, you can actually tell the difference between OGG q6 and your source CD, then swap in the FLAC lossless codec. Keep in mind that FLAC will be 60% of the size of a WAV file, so OGG will be your best option.
I believe all of the popular Pocket PC music players support FLAC. I know TCPMP does for sure, as there's a FLAC plugin on the site. Good luck!

So you mean that you're not happy with the quality of AAC? In many tests it's proven to be right up there with OGG but you can consider increasing the bitrate and/or enablng VBR.
LOSSY FORMATS:
OGG, AAC, WMA, MP3
LOSSLESS FORMATS:
FLAC, Apple Lossless
If you want lossless music, don't use a lossy format.
I'd suggest doing a double blind ABX test (I'm guessing you haven't) and that will tell you for SURE whether you can actually tell the difference between the different audio formats and bit rates, if (and only if) you do the test properly.
