RealOne Streaming

Hi,

I would like to play streamed content from the BBC website on my X50V. Unfortunately the BBC insist on using the Real format. I have installed the RealOne Player for the PPC (RealOnePlayerPPC.exe) but this does not appear to support streamed content.

Does anyone know of a solution ?

Ta v much,
Andrew

I've used RealPlayer for streaming, but have found that not all streams work properly, even if I use the same link on my desktop. Have you tried different ones?

Moved to Multimedia.

This is a very common problem with the PPC RO client. Please see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 for more info.

Thanks for the link Menneisy. I read the info and it seemed that in my case placing the X50 in a DMZ was the answer. I tried this but it made no difference - zilcho!

So I guess I will abandon this idea and uninstall the rather poor RealOne Player for PDA. Maybe someday Real will provide a better version for PDAs - including WM5

How does one place one's Axim in a DMZ zone, please? I can stream radio via RealOne and GPRS using my mobile, but cannot stream using my own WiFi at home! How do I enter DMZ, can someone please explain? Many thanks,

Kevin

PS. BTW I was in an hotel in France two weeks ago, and my Axim picked up streaming audio with RealOne and the hotel's free WiFi no problem. Which leads me to believe it's something I should change in my own router's settings, perhaps?

Yes, it is to do with your router settings.
If, like me, you have a router and a wifi access point, then you will need to change the settings on the router.
If you have an integrated one, then just use the settings for that.
I'm guessing you know how to access your router's configuration pages?

I listen to the BBC also, and have recently noticed that on some of their pages the option is there to listen using windows media. You will find it on BBC7. Hopefully they will eventually allow use of any player.
