I know this has been discussed al ot, but it seems that the majority of the discussion is on the best free way to do it.

my question is what software, free or not, is the easiest way to do it. one shot to the smallest file size with decent quality. not having to take up a lot of disk space on my computer.

fair use works well for me. rips the dvd and encodes it to the resolution and format of your choosing. there's a tutorial floating around somewhere on this site on how to use it, though you should be able to figure it out on your own as it's really not that complicated...
