Tcpmp?

I keep hearing about the TCPMP prog. I've never used it. I guess I'm stuck in yesteryear w/ WMP10. (Not that I've been happy w/ it on my x50v!)
Could some one school me on this prog & where I could get it. Everything I am reading says it's better than WMP?
Is it FREE?!

The Core Media Player is a great media player. It used to be called Betaplayer.

It is very versatile and plays almost everything audio and video. You can add plugins to play MPG, OGG.

You can get it from this site: http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/download

it's highly regarded from many people here on aximsite. :approve:

Check it out.

I have been using TCPMP for some time. It is a great program. They are in the process of updating it now. I think the new update may include a free version and a more robust pay version.

"Robust" is probably wrong. The official beta (0.72RC1) is excellent.
The pay version probably has some extra features (like skinning support and some licensed media support).

i store a lot of cd rips in ogg vorbis format and tcpmp plays them perfectly. as a side note - when i use wmp11 to retreive cd info (to include) and copy to a cf card for play on the axim, i get the album cover art displayed. makes for a nice interface. landscape displays cover art only without control buttons.

Thanks, already downloaded the prog and I love it!
It plays videos that WM10 wouldn't play.(or else I just couldn't get it to)
I'm watching National Treasure on x50v as we speak.
Video encoding info thanks to:

Fit it on my SD card - GREAT IDEA!!!

I used a dvd recorder and recorded a vcd which produces a .dat video file and I was curious to see if tcpmp would play it without re-encoding. To my surprise it did on my x5 which has a slower processor than the newer axims. It only benched 24fps on the video which was recorded at 30fps but it still played pretty good on my ax and I dont have to re-encode tivo all da way baby and I can play the files on anything fullscreen yes!!!

I'm new to the whole Axim world.........do you guys "un install" WMP (if possible)when you add something like this, or do you just let it alone and basically have 2 audio/video players?

You are quite right. WMP is part of the Operating System in ROM.
