Live365 on your Axim

Getting Live365 streams onto a wireless Axim ain't easy unless you have a playlist, then it's quite simple. I've put my playlists on a web site and you are welcome to use them. This works best with GSplayer. Go to the web site with IE, then click one of the playlist links. When prompted, just say OK to download and open the file. What happens is, the playlist gets loaded into your GSplayer and the first Live365 entry starts playing. From GSplayer you can scroll down the list and select another station. So far all I have is old time radio stuff. I'll add more later. Here is the web site:

Now this is one of the great things about this site, and these forums...Axim users helping other Axim users! One of my favorite things to do with my Axim is listen to radio, and THIS REALLY HELPS! I've wanted to get Live 365 for some time! Years ago they (Live 365) had a piece of Beta software for the PocketPC, but I can't find it anywhere to try out. Anyhow, THIS IS TRULY HELPFUL, AND I THANK YOU! Any more stations you could add would be MUCH appreciated!

By the way, I was going to install GS Player, but found that the latest version of TCPMP works just fine. On my home wi-fi network, doubling the buffer settings makes the streams more reliable (eliminating almost all "buffering" pauses). Note: it WILL take streams longer to load, but it's worth it!

"8018 your session is invalid" message

Sorry to say, the only urls that work now in my playlists on the web site above are those that do not require a member login. For example, the first two playlist items in the "Classical" section still work. Most do not ... you get the message "8018 your session is invalid". I'm not sure if this can be resolved; apparently a unique login is required, and there is some sort of timeout.

For those of you using Netfront, you can access directly from LIVE365, by using the "Helper" function to associate .m3u files with your music player (I use TCPMP).

Netfront will automatically download the .m3u file and execute the player.

Works great...

How to create your own Live365 playlist

I created these playlists on my desktop computer, and then saved them to my Axim. Here is how. This assumes you have Winamp on your desktop PC. From your desktop PC:

1. Bring up Live365 and click on the station you want. You need to get it to play in Winamp. (See the PS below if needed).
2. From Winamp, select File->Save Playlist.
3. Give it a name like station1 and save it as type M3U Playlist.
station1 is now a playlist file. Once you get it to your Axim, click on station1 (or whatever you called it) from File Explorer and GSPlayer will launch with that station. Or Go to GSPlayer and select the station1 file.
After you have this working you may want to put more stations in the "station1" file. You will have to go through steps 1 to 3 for each station you want, and create the file. Each station is saved in a separate file. Then use Notepad, and edit station1, and copy from each file the two lines after "#EXTM3U". Then paste those two lines to the end of your station1 file.
PS - To get the station to play on your desktop using Winamp you must change your settings in live365:
Click My Account (upper right on the Live365 page)
Click Listen Settings tab
Select MP3 player and Save Settings.
Next time you listen, Winamp should come up, in addition to the Live365 window.
I can answer questions if you have problems. - Gil Arnold Raleigh, NC
